Journey vs Trip vs Travel: Which Is Which?

Travel is the general verb, a trip is going somewhere and coming back, and a journey is the way from one place to another.

All three words are about going somewhere, but each one has its own job in a sentence.

We went on a school trip to the museum.

It was a short trip, only a day.

Use go on or take with trip. Never use trip as a verb in this meaning.

Journey: the way from A to B

A journey is going from one place to another. It often feels long, and it can have problems or surprises on the way.
